Our commercial team has extensive expertise on a full range of commercial, management and outsourcing contracts.

We focus on providing pragmatic advice, which addresses key contractual risks for our clients. We take a plain English approach to preparing contracts to ensure our clients’ expectations are clearly documented in a form that assists with speed to contract and project implementation.

A core part of our practice involves providing day-to-day support to in-house lawyers, on a cost effective basis. We are available to draft entire agreements, comment on particular clauses, act as a sounding board, review suppliers' standard form agreements for “big picture” issues, or simply offer a “second pair” of eyes on a particular agreement. To meet this need we have a dedicated specialist commercial contracting team who undertake contracting work routinely, thereby capturing ‘know-how’ efficiencies.

Crown Fibre Holdings ultra-fast broadband initiative
Advised Crown Fibre Holdings on the conduct of the competitive procurement process for the New Zealand Government's ultra-fast broadband initiative, including leading all of the contract negotiations with eight bidding parties, contracting, company structuring and other issues.

Auckland Transport supply and maintenance contracts
Advised Auckland Transport on the supply and maintenance contracts with the Spanish firm CAF, for new electric multiple units (EMUs) for Auckland.
