Ambassador provides unique perspective on engaging with China

China's ambassador to New Zealand has provided valuable insights into how New Zealand business can better engage with China at an Asia Forum event hosted by Bell Gully.

Last night H.E. Mr Zhang Limin, the Ambassador of The People's Republic of China to New Zealand, led a discussion on the topic of effective engagement with China, in Bell Gully's Wellington office.

H.E. Mr Zhang Limin spoke of the importance of understanding cultural differences and how history has played a part in the diversity between eastern and western cultures. He emphasised the importance of persevering to understand different values and experiences and to always seek common ground.

Among those attending were representatives of government departments, other High Commissions and university academics.

The Asia Forum meets monthly in Wellington to improve understanding of Asian political issues and their impact on trade and investment and to encourage the exchange of views of those with similar interests in different fields.

The next Asia Forum event will be hosted by Bell Gully on Tuesday 25 May when John Allen, Chief Executive and Secretary of Foreign Affairs and Trade, will lead a discussion titled New Zealand and the Asian Century.
