Resource management expert joins Bell Gully partnership

Andrew Beatson, one of New Zealand's leading resource management and infrastructure law specialists, is the newest partner at law firm Bell Gully.

He joins the firm in Wellington from Harbour Chambers where, as a barrister, he built up a prominent resource management practice.

Andrew has been practising law for 15 years, and has specialised in providing advice on all aspects of the Resource Management Act and related law for the past 12 years. He has in depth experience in project development and litigation.

Andrew advises developers and applicants, as well as local authorities, regulatory bodies and objectors, on significant projects including infrastructure, subdivisions, land development, and retail developments. He has obtained consents for many projects including wind farms, major retail developments and telecommunications. He is regularly involved in plan changes and policy advice. He is currently involved in advising on numerous large-scale projects across the country, including energy generation projects and commercial developments.

Andrew's move to Bell Gully boosts the firm's specialist resource management and environment law team led by Bell Gully senior partner, David McGregor.

Andrew will also be a key adviser in the firm's national infrastructure and projects group, a multi-disciplinary team advising public and private sector clients on all aspects of development.

Says Andrew: "My move to a team-based practice will enhance my ability to continue to provide high quality legal services to a wide range of clients. With the diverse challenges facing New Zealand in resource management and infrastructure, I believe Bell Gully will stand out in terms of responsiveness, understanding and results for its clients."
