Turning business to gold

Banking newcomer Kiwibank has taken out the top prize at Wellington's Gold Awards, sharing the honour roll with, among others, comedy hit Flight of the Conchords and export success story Wedgelock.

The 10th annual Gold Awards recognised the excellence of emerging and established Wellington businesses across 10 different categories. The breadth of the capital's business aptitude was evident - winners were chosen from sectors as varied as flooring manufacturing, software development and local government.

The awards also paid tribute to Sir Ron Brierley, who won The Dominion Post Tribute to a Wellington Icon. Sir Ron Brierley hails from Wellington's Island Bay and is still well-linked to business in the capital.

Bell Gully was again involved as a sponsor of the awards.
