Bell Gully's popular Crunch Time series is set to kick-off for the year with a line-up of thought-provoking election year debates on the agenda.
The series first began in the lead-up to the 2005 general election, drawing together key politicians and business and community leaders in Auckland and Wellington, for discussions on high profile issues.
Since then Crunch has moved on with an annual programme of thought leadership on fundamental issues facing New Zealand business and wider communities.
The 2008 Crunch series builds on the strong programme with a focus on critical issues before the general election later this year.
Bell Gully is pleased to have respected political commentator Colin James back to facilitate the sessions, as he did pre-election in 2005.
The first Crunch discussion will be held in March and April in Auckland and Wellington and will examine economic issues facing the country.
Reserve Bank Governor Dr Alan Bollard will be a panellist at the Wellington Crunch seminar on Monday 31 March along with two other prominent business leaders and Dr Bollard and Fletcher Building CEO Jonathan Ling will be panellists at the Auckland Crunch on Tuesday 1 April.
Bell Gully senior partner David McGregor, and partner Simon Watt and consultant Paul East QC, who spearhead the Crunch Time series in Auckland and Wellington respectively, say it creates a forum for leaders with differing backgrounds and experience to discuss issues affecting all New Zealanders. Such a critical mass of knowledge is vital to New Zealand's advancement, they say.
