An America's Cup syndicate lawyer has returned to practice in New Zealand with Bell Gully.
Senior associate Gillian Williams left Bell Gully three years ago to join BMW Oracle Racing in Valencia as a legal adviser.
A keen racing sailor who did an Olympic campaign in the Europe dinghy, Gillian was involved in advising on diverse legal aspects of the BMW Oracle challenge including agreements and contracts, the tax and immigration aspects of locating the team in Spain, and America's Cup rules compliance and disputes.
BMW Oracle described Gillian as one of the key women of its campaign with her fingerprints "on just about every important piece of paper that our team's business department deals with, and her quick mind and keen eye for detail are a help to every department".
After the fantastic experience of working and living in Spain and being immersed in the Cup, Gillian is pleased to be back in New Zealand and in Bell Gully's corporate team.
She will be specialising in corporate law and securities, including advising on NZX Listing Rules, mergers and acquisitions and company law.
Gillian was among other Bell Gully company at the America's Cup with former partners Graham McKenzie and Hamish Ross holding roles on the America's Cup Jury and as Alinghi General Counsel respectively.
