A finance lawyer with a global track record of advising on major banking and capital markets transactions is the newest partner at law firm Bell Gully.
Wellington-based Hugh Kettle has been promoted to partner, a year after returning to the firm from the UK.
A financial services specialist, Hugh worked at Bell Gully for four years before heading to London in 2002, where he spent three years in the banking department at Allen & Overy LLP.
Hugh has experience in a wide range of banking and capital markets transactions, both in New Zealand and overseas. He also advises on insolvency issues and was involved in several high profile restructurings while in London.
Since returning to New Zealand last year, Hugh has been involved in a number of major corporate, private equity and property financings, as well as listed and unlisted debt issues and corporate transactions within the financial services sector.
Bell Gully chairman David Simcock says the firm was pleased to have Hugh return to the fold from overseas last year - and "now we're delighted to count him among our strong partnership".
"Hugh's promotion reflects his clear expertise and his ability to develop strong relationships with his clients. We are confident that he will have a strong presence in the banking and securities area of the legal market in New Zealand."
