Employment Law Seminar

This month Bell Gully held an employment law seminar in Auckland. Led and facilitated by members of our employment law team, the sessions covered a range of developments and issues in the employment law area.

The seminar discussed in detail the key employment issues around a bird flu pandemic in New Zealand, and bullying in the workplace providing practical examples and information on how to minimise and resolve allegations.

We also gave top 10 hints on employment agreements, suspension and garden leave, dismissals and discipline and redundancies.

The seminar covered recent and proposed legislation and its impact for employers, including amendments to the Employment Relations Act (around protected employees and probationary employment), the Flexible Working Hours Bill (which allows certain parents the right to request part-time or flexible working hours), and an increase in minimum wages.
