Bell Gully is sponsoring the premiere season of The Book of Fame, presented by Downstage Theatre in Wellington from 9 May to 7 June.
The play is based on Lloyd Jones? award-winning novel of the same name, which this week won the Pacific?s richest literary prize, the Tasmania Pacific Fiction Prize. The novel also won the Deutz Montana Medal for Fiction at the 2001 Montana New Zealand Book Awards.
The Book of Fame relives the legendary 1905 tour of England by The Originals, the first rugby team to bear the name ?All Blacks?.
?The Originals were one of the first icons of national identity for a young country,? said Maggie Callicrate, Bell Gully Chief Executive. ?As one of New Zealand?s oldest law firms, we are proud to support a new theatrical adaptation of their story.?
