Rob leads the firm's employment law practice. A litigation partner, he has a wealth of experience in resolving employment issues and industrial disputes.

He advises on employment agreements, employment aspects of commercial transactions, dismissals, discrimination, redundancy, restraint of trade and labour disputes. He is a trained mediator.

Rob is a past Chairman of the Employment and Industrial Relations Law Committee of the International Bar Association, the largest international association of lawyers.

He is a part-time lecturer in employment law at the University of Auckland and regularly speaks at employment law seminars and conferences. Rob is the author of the New Zealand chapter in three international textbooks on employment law.

Rob is named as a leading lawyer in Who's Who Legal 2008 in the labour and employment field. He is listed as a leading individual by Asia Pacific Legal 500 2007/2008. PLC Which Lawyer? 2008 rates him as a leading lawyer and Euromoney's Expert Guides names him as one of the world's leading labour and employment lawyers. Chambers Global 2008 describes Rob as "exceptional" and gives him a number one ranking, noting that he is "one of the top employment lawyers in New Zealand and a linchpin of the firm's Auckland practice".
