David specialises in banking and financing, advising both lenders and borrowers.

He has specialist expertise in cross-border and domestic asset leasing, having acted on numerous leasing transactions including Japanese, German and US leveraged and operating lease structures, defeasance leasing transactions and export credit structures.

David advises both lenders and borrowers on domestic and international lending transactions. He has also acted on some of New Zealand's largest construction finance transactions.

Asia Pacific Legal 500 2007/2008, IFLR1000 2008 and PLC Which Lawyer? 2008 list David as a leading individual in banking and finance.

Chambers Global 2008 says David has proven to be a "truly exceptional" lawyer, particularly in cross-border and domestic asset leasing.

David is also recognised by Who's Who Legal 2006 for his work in the aviation sector.

Advised Air New Zealand on the financing structure for the Japanese Operating Lease (JOL) of a new Boeing 777 aircraft worth US$127 million. The deal was awarded Aircraft Leasing Deal of the Year - Australasia in Transport Finance Awards Yearbook 2006 and Asia Deal of the Year in Airfinance Journal 2006.

Advised Pacific Equity Partners on senior and subordinated facilities on the acquisition of Tegel Foods and on senior, subordinated and bridge facilities for its acquisition of Griffins biscuits.
