David is a tax partner specialising in corporate restructuring and tax litigation.

In addition to corporate advisory work and advising on tax policy issues, he has advised on the resolution of disputes with the Inland Revenue Department and appeared as counsel during tax litigation cases.

David's corporate advisory experience includes structuring or restructuring corporate organisations, structuring joint ventures involving either New Zealand or off-shore participants and the acquisition and disposition of assets. He also advises on the use of trusts both domestically and for international clients.

World Tax 2010 names David as a leading tax practitioner, and he also ranked as a leading individual in tax in Asia Pacific Legal 500 2009/2010, Who's Who Legal 2010, IFLR1000 2007 and PLC Which Lawyer? 2010. Chambers Global 2010 states that "well-respected tax lawyer David Simcock is noted for his extensive knowledge and experience across the full spectrum of tax law". Asialaw Leading Lawyers 2010 also names him as a leading tax and trusts and estates lawyer.
