​​​​​​Glenn is an M&A specialist who regularly advises New Zealand and overseas clients on large corporate transactions. He advises prominent New Zealand corporate entities including Rank Group, Carter Holt Harvey, Goodman Fielder, AIA, AMP Life and Genesis Energy.

He is also a member of our insurance law team and has advised clients on some of the insurance sector's largest M&A transactions, including Resolution Life's acquisition of AMP Life's wealth protection and mature businesses (IFLR Asia Pacific's 2021 M&A Deal of the Year), AIA's acquisition of Sovereign, IAG's purchase of the ongoing insurance business of AMI Insurance and Blackstone's investment in Partners Life. He also regularly advises New Zealand and global insurers on regulatory matters, including approvals required for M&A transactions or group reorganisations.

Work highlights

Sale of Partners Life to Dai-ichi Life

Advising majority shareholder Blackstone on the proposed sale of 100% of New Zealand licensed life insurer Partners Life to Dai-ichi Life for approximately NZ$980 million. 

Sale of Gull to Allegro Funds

Advised Ampol Limited on the sale of Gull New Zealand to Allegro Funds for net cash proceeds of approximately NZ$522 million, as part of Ampol’s divestment undertaking to the Commerce Commission for the clearance to acquire Z Energy Limited.

Apex acquisition of MMC

Advised global financial services company Apex Group on its purchase of 100% of MMC, New Zealand’s leading provider of investment administration services.

Acquisition of SIG's New Zealand paperboard business
Advised a consortium of international and New Zealand investors on the acquisition of Whakatane Mill Limited from SIG Combibloc.

Resolution Life acquisition of AMP Life's wealth protection and mature businesses
Advised Resolution Life on the New Zealand aspects of its acquisition of AMP Life's wealth protection and mature businesses for AU$3.3 billion. This transaction won IFLR Asia Pacific's 2021 M&A Deal of the Year.
