Applying to Bell Gully
To keep doing the best work for our clients, we need the best people. We offer the best environment for qualified lawyers and business support professionals. If you are interested in applying for a position, find out more on this page.
1) Compile a CV
To apply for any vacancy, we will need you to submit:
- A copy of your current CV
- A completed Application Form
- A certified copy of your academic record (legal positions only)
If you are not a New Zealand citizen, you will need to provide us with copies of your immigration documentation to show that you are entitled to work in New Zealand.
Your CV should reflect your work and academic history as well as giving us a flavour of the person you are. Your CV should contain all of the following information:
- Personal details - including contact telephone number and e mail address
- Work history – starting with your current or most recent position. You should include the name of the organisation you work for, your current title and a brief description of your responsibilities. If you work as part of a team, it is helpful to summarise where your position fits in that team and what the reporting lines are.
- Academic record - if you are applying for a legal position, you will need to provide certified copies of your academic transcript for all tertiary education completed. You should also set out a summary of your school leaving results. For all other positions, a summary of your academic record contained in your CV is sufficient for your initial application. We may ask to see copies of academic documents at a later date.
- Positions of responsibility and memberships – your CV should contain a summary of any official memberships you may have or positions of responsibility you may hold now or have held in the past. e.g. for graduates the position of school prefect or sports team captain.
- Other interests and achievements – we are interested to hear a little more about who you are. Include a short section on your CV about your outside interests or achievements.
- Layout – a CV printed on white paper in a dark font is easiest for us to read. If you are invited to an interview, we will need to copy and perhaps scan your CV. Coloured paper, unusual fonts or laminated covers or folders can mean your CV does not reproduce to a high standard and may be difficult for interviewers to read.
