At Bell Gully we seek to be leaders in the business and wider community.
We organise Thought Leadership forums that bring business, political and community organisations together.
We invest heavily in think tanks and leadership courses that challenge and inspire us all to do things better.
The firm’s focus on leadership starts from day one with our summer clerks who undergo a unique training programme. They get to hear first hand from business and sporting leaders, as well as acting like leaders themselves by working on community projects such as renovating Plunket clinics in need.
Some of the leadership activities in which we are involved include:
Our long running and popular CRUNCH series bring business, political and community leaders together to discuss topics as diverse as trade, infrastructure and Maori economic development. The common thread is they are issues that impact on the future prosperity of our country. More recently we have begun running our Perspectives series for staff and clients which brings speakers into the firm focusing on social and health issues. We are also a major sponsor of the New Zealand Institute and a member of the New Zealand Business Roundtable, both prominent independent think tanks.
Bell Gully proudly supports the Excelerator: The Zealand Institute leadership programme and the not-for-profit Leadership New Zealand programme. Both these initiatives aim to develop strong leadership in the private, public and not-for-profit sectors. Our involvement includes having trustees or advisors on the organisations' boards and being active participants in programme events.
We have an active and diverse programme of community leadership that goes from providing pro bono legal advice to at least 20 organisations annually to sponsoring and driving community initiatives.
