International requirements
Export volumes and values of New Zealand wines have continued to grow as the New Zealand wine brand has strengthened.
For the year ended 2006, exports totalled $512 million from shipments of 58 million litres. Forecasts project that export values will reach $1.5 billion by 2010. These confident projections reflect the strong growth of wineries, and a positive perception of the future place and presence of New Zealand wines in international markets.
However, there are risks to be managed: avoiding oversupply conditions, changes in the value of the New Zealand dollar and technical barriers constraining access to international markets.
